Karin received this designation during the 2026 Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) Conference, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the captive insurance industry and her longstanding commitment to education, innovation, and leadership.

The ICCIE Fellow designation is reserved for professionals who have demonstrated outstanding expertise, meaningful industry impact, and dedication to advancing the captive insurance profession. It represents one of the industry’s most prestigious honors and recognizes individuals whose work has helped shape the future of captive insurance.

With more than 30 years of experience, Karin has established herself as one of the industry’s foremost experts in captive insurance, employee benefits, and risk financing. As co-founder of Spring Consulting Group, she has led the development of innovative captive strategies for organizations ranging from middle-market employers to Fortune 500 companies, helping clients optimize risk financing, improve financial outcomes, and navigate complex regulatory environments.

Throughout her career, Karin has been recognized as a pioneer in employee benefits captives. She has helped organizations integrate medical stop-loss, workers’ compensation, disability, life insurance, retiree medical, and pension liabilities into captive insurance structures, expanding the strategic use of captives well beyond traditional property and casualty programs.

Beyond her consulting work, Karin has dedicated countless hours to educating and mentoring captive professionals. She serves as an ICCIE Board Member and instructor, teaches captive insurance courses through the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences, including VCIA, CICA, RIMS, the Cayman Captive Forum, and the World Captive Forum. She has also authored numerous articles and thought leadership pieces that continue to influence best practices and innovation throughout the industry.

Karin’s leadership extends across many of the captive industry’s most respected organizations through board service, committee leadership, and mentorship. She currently serves or has served in leadership roles with organizations including the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA), the European Captive Insurance and Reinsurance Owners’ Association (ECIROA), the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE), the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA), and Fallon Health. She also serves as President of Bloom Insurance, a Delaware cell captive, where she provides strategic governance and operational leadership.

The ICCIE Fellow designation adds to an already distinguished list of industry honors, including recognition as one of Captive International’s Most Influential Women in Captives, induction into the Captive Review Hall of Fame, the CICA Distinguished Service Award, U.S. Captive Professional of the Year, multiple Power Broker Awards, repeated recognition in Captive Review’s Power 50 rankings, and numerous Captive International awards for captive consulting and feasibility studies.
